2nd Line Application Support Analyst (Council, Northgate, SQL, UNIX, XML)

A leading UK FTSE 100 provider of IT solutions and services are looking to hire a 2nd Line Application Support Analyst (Council, Northgate, SQL, UNIX, XML) to join a talented application division in Birmingham. The 2nd Line Application Support Analyst (Council, Northgate, SQL, UNIX, XML) will have a high level of client focus and will support and undertake in depth analysis on several business-critical projects. They will provide resolutions to customers and support the project delivery of new/changed applications including regular upgrades. My client is looking for an individual who has previously worked and supported a range of applications within a council environment.

Responsibilities for the 2nd Line Application Support Analyst (Council, Northgate, SQL, UNIX, XML)

• Understand the design, development and configuration of new and existing applications in relation to Business as Usual service delivery
• Analyse, diagnose and resolve complex system issues including system integration issues
• Analyse technical documentation to understand associated interdependencies and make recommendations for service change/improvement
• Develop, amend and deliver management information reports
• Compare data sets to develop and execute reconciliation routines
• Provide technical support for new and changed services
• Understand complex business requirements and provide support and guidance to deliver an appropriate technical solution
• Liaise with other support teams within the organisation and external organisations (e.g. third-party software suppliers)
• Provision of support across a varied application portfolio ensuring ISO 20000 / ITIL framework is followed.

Requirements for the 2nd Line Application Support Analyst (Council, Northgate, SQL, UNIX, XML)

• Proven experience of supporting complex applications gained in a technical/support role backed up with strong IT experience
• Good understanding of XML and ability to interpret error messages
• General knowledge of IT architecture (Application, Databases, Web Services, Active Directory
• Knowledge and awareness of ISO 20000 and ITIL processes
• An understanding of Northgate public protection applications, Library Management system, Sport and Leisure systems, planning, etc
• An appreciation of Unix Scripting, PL/SQL and MySQL.
• Experience of VMware or other virtualisation products.
