Research Scientist

  • Job Type: Contract

For our prestigious client, we are currently looking for three research scientists

The position is for a laboratory based characterisation scientist (or associate scientist Dependent on experience)

The focus of BFCS is the comprehensive and detailed characterisation of therapeutic proteins, characterisation of protein production processes and understanding of molecular vulnerabilities and degradation pathways.

The group uses a wide range of biophysical and physicochemical techniques to characterise biotherapeutics and the applicants should have extensive experience in the use of analytical methods to characterise proteins. Desirable techniques for the position include chromatography (HPLC, UPLC and AKTA), electrophoresis (gel and capillary), spectroscopy (circular dichroism, FTIR, fluorescence), DSC and activity assays (SPR and ELISA) and the successful applicant will ideally have experience in several of these techniques within a development setting. Knowledge of glycan characterisation or immunogenicity assays would also be beneficial.

Data produced by BFCS is routinely used in regulatory filings, requiring a high level of quality. This requires timely and accurate record keeping and good attention to detail as well as complying with local quality requirements. An understanding of GxP requirements is also desirable.

The candidate will also need the ability to tackle complex scientific problems, be able to adapt to changing priorities, have good communication skills and be comfortable working as part of a large team.

This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic scientist to develop skills and experience in the biopharmaceutical sector.
