We are now looking for a Laboratory Scientist to join our Technical Manufacturing Team in Southampton. Internally, this role is known as Senior Technical Specialist. The Role As the Laboratory Scientist, you will ensure that our diagnostic products are manufactured to a high standard. In this important role, you'll take an experimental approach to root cause analysis, problem solving and fault finding within the products themselves and the manufacturing processes. You will lead the Technical Manufacturing Team in the delivery of product failure investigations, QC investigations, validation activities and the establishment of appropriate product performance measurements. Additionally, you will: - Oversee the delivery of a number of projects - Establish performance evaluation testing methods and criteria to support right first-time manufacturing and QC activities - Provide expert advice to colleagues - Identify process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy - Develop, and implement new manufacturing methods to meet changing demands About You To be considered as a Laboratory Scientist, you'll need: - At least five years' experience of working in a laboratory production environment - Excellent scientific knowledge of PCR and the ability to apply your knowledge to resolve manufacturing issues - Knowledge of quality control procedures and experience of identifying appropriate criteria to measure performance - Project management skills - Knowledge of QMS, quality procedures and compliance to regulatory standards such as CE IVD - Strong experimental planning and problem-solving abilities - The ability to lead a team and drive urgency - An MSc (or equivalent), ideally a PhD, in a related scientific field Other organisations may call this role Production Scientist, Scientist, Laboratory Analyst, PCR Analyst, Quality Control Analyst, or QC Analyst.
