Laboratory BMA Supervisor

Lead BMA Specimen reception Supervisor Band 4, £ 21892-24157 pa hours: 37.5 per week as part of a 24/7 shift system Applications are invited from candidates who are interested in joining the excellent team in the Blood Sciences Department on the George Eliot site, which is part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services network (CWPS). We currently have an exciting opportunity as Lead BMA at the Blood sciences Laboratory at Warwick vacancy for one Band 4 BMA post. The role of the Lead BMA is to supervise and support the Higher Level Band 3 BMA’s in their technical duties and specimen reception duties. Biomedical Assistants are technical support staff within the blood science laboratory. With suitable training they will perform; sample booking in, analyser maintenance, basic troubleshooting, some simple manual tests under supervision to ensure samples meet their turnaround times.. They will carry out audits, stock checks, stock rotation, reagent preparation and general support to BMS staff. They must also be committed to continued professional development. The candidate should have; proven supervisory skills, good numeracy and literacy skills, as well as some experience of working with computers. They should be able to cope with working autonomously, and to strict deadlines, in a very busy environment. They must also be committed to 24/7 working which is an essential part of the Blood Science Laboratory. Any relevant experience of hospital or laboratory work is desirable, but not essential, as all necessary training will be provided. The George Eliot Blood Sciences Laboratory is part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Network, which is based on the hospital sites; Coventry (University Hospital), Nuneaton (George Eliot Hospital) and Warwick (South Warwickshire Hospital). It offers a comprehensive range of Pathology services to a population of approximately 1.8million Coventry and Warwickshire residents and has a close relationship with the Medical school at Warwick University.
