Laboratory Analytical Specialist

Description

The Quality Assurance Department at the GSK Ware Manufacturing site is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the manufacture of products is performed in a controlled manner and meets commitments to international regulatory bodies, as well as the requirements of current Good Manufacturing Practice. The laboratory teams work as part of the Site Value Streams to ensure that manufactured products are compliant and fit for purpose.  This includes product analysis, laboratory investigations, method optimisation and trend analysis of analytical results.We have 2 Laboratory Analytical Specialist roles to recruit for; one will support the Oral Solid Dose (OSD) laboratory and the other will support the Micronised Substance laboratory.Job Purpose:The purpose of the role is to effectively be the sole point of contact for complex new product, new equipment and pharmacopoeial activities for finished products for the respiratory value stream at the site.  You will work closely with R&D and sister manufacturing sites on method optimisation, method transfer and equipment validation to implement capability at the Ware site (for release and stability).  Within your job you will provide analytical trouble shooting for new and legacy methods and equipment’s building capability simultaneously.  You will manage all transfer activities for the laboratory (a mix of transfer in and out) and you will act as key contact person for GSK’s R&D division.As Ware will invariably be the lead site for any NPI activities, you will work across other sites to assist in trouble shooting and setting, maintaining or improvement of analytical standards.  This will involve leading transfer activities across GSK and in-country analytical testing.  You will ensure all elements of safety, quality and compliance are maintained.  Day-to-day activities include continuously improving the areas to achieve site annual targets, developing lab staff (so they are challenged and that a healthy succession plan is in place) and implementing new technologies and equipment (in a safe and compliant manner) to enable testing to be performed with limited data variability in results.  You will front external audits and be point of contact for R&D and suppliers of new technology and equipment.About You: This role would suit a driven and motivated individual who has strong experience of working in a GMP (Quality) environment.  Strong people skills and a proven ability to work in a team (eg; flexible approach, good communication, planning and organizational skills) are a pre-requisite for the role.  You should have knowledge/experience of chemical laboratory testing techniques (within a GMP environment).  An excellent understanding and appreciation of the testing of Respiratory products for release and stability is important.  You will also have a strong continuous improvement growth mindset and a willingness to work towards standardised and lean working practices.PLEASE NOTE:  We are ideally looking for people who have Particle Size analysis experience (for the Micronised Substance lab) and Method-Transfer experience (for the Oral Solid Dose lab).About Ware Manufacturing Site:Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form.
