Specialist Biomedical Scientist PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLYWe are looking to recruit Specialist BMS’s (Band 6). You will be based in Blood Transfusion.You will possess an HCPC accredited degree and if registered with the HCPC after 2006 an IBMS Specialist Portfolio in either Haematology with Hospital Transfusion Science or Transfusion Science.Experience of working in a Blood Sciences or a joint Haematology Transfusion lab would be desirable.Our vision is to be the best local regional and national provider of high quality effective and innovative pathology services.You will work as part of a team with responsibility for ensuring effective delivery of a high quality service to our users. We will support you to develop the necessary skills needed for your role and provide a structured and supported approach to developing as a BMS.You will be required to work at both of the Leeds sites (Leeds General Infirmary and St James).There is a 24/7/365 shift under AFC terms and conditions; you will be required to participate in this.The Blood Transfusion service operates on two large teaching hospital sites across Leeds; which has a population of around 2.3 million (Leeds Metropolitan area). The annual workload is in excess of 85,000 blood groups, antibody screens and cross match requests with a further 30,000 antenatal samples from primary care.
