King’s has a Foetal Medicine Unit, Liver Transplant Unit and a large Obstetric department, is South East England’s largest Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, and is one of four designated Major Trauma Centre’s in London. Over the last 170 years, King’s has delivered nothing but world class service to all its patients from deprived communities as well as some of the wealthiest in London.We are also IBMS approved for pre-registration training in Virology.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist specialising in virology/molecular has now arisen to join a highly motivated team, providing a high level of diagnostic virology service using both serological and molecular methods in order to provide patients with reliable diagnosis and treatment.Duties include the performance of a range of specialist technical and scientific activities, including testing samples referred from other NHS laboratories and private customers.Following appropriate training and orientation and in rotation with other BMS staff, to work as the sole BMS in extended hours, weekends and out of hours service, undertaking urgent or other high priority work.This role involves assisting in the day-to-day supervision of all other MLAs, trainee BMSs and inexperienced BMS 1s in the department.
