Permanent staff as well as Night staff only required.
An opportunity has arisen for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated BMS with an IBMS accredited degree and HCPC registration. Whether you are keen to just work nights, or, happy to work all hours of the shift pattern, if you have experience to complement the Blood Sciences Clinical Laboratories here at Royal Surrey County Hospital which is part of the Surrey Pathology Services in Guildford, then we would like to hear from you.
The laboratory is currently moving towards full multidisciplinary working and as such, you would be trained in all areas of the Blood Sciences laboratory and will be expected to cover unsocial hours either as a shift worker or as permanent night staff.
As a member of staff you will be provided with suitable training with rotation in all sections of the laboratory, namely general Haematology, Coagulation, Blood Transfusion and/or either General Biochemistry. The laboratory is well equipped with Advia 2120 FBC analysers, STAGO analysers and Advia 1800’s. Blood Transfusion utilises IBG Neo and Echo Blood Group Analysers and experience with some of these machines would be desirable. Our laboratory is fully accredited with CPA, MHRA, IIP and HCPC training status
You must be keen to embrace new ways of working and develop your knowledge and skills and develop others. In addition to these requirements, you will be expected to participate in the full shift rota, involving covering early, core, late, weekend and potentially night shifts during the 24/7 working week, once competency has been achieved. You may also be expected to work at other Surrey Pathology Service sites as required to maintain quality, training and service requirements.
Guildford is a popular Surrey town close to the North Downs countryside that benefits from excellent schools and a wide variety of shopping, sporting and entertainment opportunities. It is well served by road and rail links and there is a regular bus service from the town to the hospital.
