Who we are

At Weezy, we are proud to be the UK’s first on-demand supermarket! Our mission is to deliver life-essentials, creating ever more happy and spontaneous moments at home. We’re doing this by delivering groceries in under 15 minutes! Behind the scenes, we’re building a network of dark stores across London and beyond, while leaning on a rider network to deliver our customers’ orders.

Launched in July 2020 by Alec and Kristoff with £14.6m in Series A funding just announced (led by Left Lane Capital and DN Capital) following £1m pre-seed from Heartcore Capital (see TechCrunch for more info) we’re experiencing amazing customer growth, retention and NPS and looking to 10x Weezy’s footprint over the next 12 months across London and the UK. This is a unique opportunity to build a UK-wide consumer brand and something that everyone will instantly recognise, which we think is pretty cool.

What to expect as our first People & Talent Manager

We’re a small team (10 right now but growing fast). We collaborate very closely and are focused on rapidly creating impact. In order for us to maintain this, we need a People & Talent Manager to become the glue that binds our expanding team together. In a nutshell, your mission is to help us build and maintain an environment in which people can do their best work. It sounds cliche but that’s what it is!

You’ll be the first ‘people person’ at Weezy, taking ownership of, what is right now, a blank canvas. From hiring to firing and everything in between, you’ll own it (hopefully not too much firing but we all make mistakes). It goes without saying that this is a great opportunity to help shape our culture as we grow, making sure it continues to be our competitive advantage.

Finally, you understand that Seed/Series A startups are a rollercoaster of highs and lows, at high speed. Every Weezard understands this and is in it 100%. If this sounds like a good thing, then this role might be for you!

Key Responsibilities

You’ll report to Alec (COO) and build-out an appropriate People team in line with Weezy’s growth.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and own Weezy’s recruitment (we’ll look to split out recruitment into a separate function when the time is right and want you to tell us when this is).
  • Onboard all our new joiners, from sending out offer letters to helping their manager close out their probation period. We don’t know what this looks like right now so you’ll be tasked with designing and building this.
  • Help us codify our ‘Weezy Mindset’ and ensure this becomes a common thread in everything we do at Weezy.
  • Start to create the perfect employee experience so that people stay at Weezy to develop their careers - think growth frameworks, continuous feedback, regular training.
  • Constantly be looking to refine the processes you introduce, ensuring they remain stage appropriate and also aligned to our mission. If it doesn’t help us achieve our mission then should you be adding it to the people roadmap?


You recognise yourself in the following:

  • Operated as a People Manager at a startup or scaleup (Series A-C) during a period of rapid growth
  • Proven track record of successfully building People/HR function from scratch.
  • Experience working on both high priority strategic people projects and also getting your hands dirty on a daily basis.
  • Experience managing 1-2 people. You also know what good management looks like.
  • Like using the odd pivot table and v-lookup in google sheets.
  • A competitive mindset and hunger to operate quicker by being smarter.
  • Able to work with people of varying work cultures ranging from investors and founders to riders and software engineers.
  • Really, really, really comfortable with ambiguity, short deadlines and changing priorities. You don’t get flustered when asked to drop something you’ve been working on for weeks because you see there's something else to be done.
