Grafton are recruiting exclusively on behalf of a local sheet metal manufacturer to source an experienced Production Manager to manage the production, engineering, warehouse staff and wider supply chain.
My client is looking for a senior production specialist with background in sheet metal as well as good understanding of engineering projects & supply chain processes.
Managing production, working collaboratively with the commercial manager and production scheduler
Responsible for on time in full
Co-ordinating the shop floor and works order for each station.
Delivering the expected daily production schedule by ensuring manufacturing operations are done, so that other manufacturing can be completed as planned.
Prepping the factory for the working day ahead, and packing the factory at the end of the working day (trolleys, sheet, materials)
Adding capacity on the shop floor and offering substitute for any unforeseen absence.
Monitoring jobs through manufacturing process to spot and eliminate any faults or mistakes that may mean rejection.
Offering training to new or current employees, this being either skilled training, trainee welder/ press operative, paint line operatives or simple health and safety training.
Ensuring all subcontracting jobs are completed ready for collection whether its palletising for wagons or simply getting parts finished quicker. Then loading the collection and double-checking the whole job is complete and on its way.
Analysing and reviewing current manufacturing operations/processes to improve efficiency
Acting as a bridge between the shop floor and the sales office and liaise with CAD and sales to iron out any queries. Significantly improving production time.
Ensuring employees are adhering to health and safety at all times
The ideal Production Manager will have:
Previously worked in an engineering/manufacturing environment (sheet metal is a must)
Proven track record of ensuring products are manufactured at the right cost and level of quality
Previous experience managing a team
A dynamic personality with the attitude to always do better
Ability to communicate and engage with people across all levels
