Public Involvement Advisor

Description

Do you have the enthusiasm and flair for putting patient and public involvement policies into practice? Would you like to be part of a team with a national and international reputation for high-quality public involvement? Then join us and you will get the satisfaction of knowing your work will contribute to improving health and social care in England.

The Public Involvement Programme (PIP) sits within the Health & Social Care directorate. PIP advises on and supports opportunities for patient, carer, community and public involvement across all of NICE’s work programmes. The Programme also encourages lay stakeholder organisations to support the implementation of NICE guidance, standards and advice.

As a Public Involvement Adviser you will identify and support people who use health and social care services, carers and the public, and organisations representing their interests, in a range of NICE guidance. This includes project managing stakeholder engagement, lay member recruitment and support, and providing advice and training to various audiences. The post holder will also contribute to the strategic development and promotion of patient and public involvement at NICE.

You will need:

    • Experience of putting public involvement policies into practice
    • Effective and persuasive communication skills (oral, written and presentations)
    • Experience in working with a range of individuals and organisations, including patient organisations, ideally in a healthcare setting
    • Proven operational involvement in the management of complex projects involving professionals and lay people working together
    • A good understanding of the range and roles of organisations representing the interests of people who use health and social care services, carers and the public
    • Experience of providing training and information to lay people, including facilitation of groups in a training or workshop environment
