Sefton Council is seeking to recruit two energetic and well organised Public Health Leads with strong technical skills and a real commitment to support outbreak and incident management as part of the Sefton COVID-19 response team.
The post holders will join the Sefton Public Health Team at a dynamic and fast paced time and will support an Advanced Practitioner in Public Health as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the day to day provision of the health protection function and Covid 19 pandemic response at a borough level.
They will use specialist knowledge and skills to support outbreak and incident management and actively contribute to the wider provision and development of the COVID 19 contact tracing function, including the development, training and supervision of others within the team. This will involve close working with the local contact tracing hub, and key partners including, the Public Health England (PHE) Health Protection Team, the Community Infection Prevention and Control Service, Environmental Health and colleagues from across the Council, Health and Social Care and Voluntary Community and Faith (VCF) sector.
They will actively support the contact tracing team in complex situations and will provide a health protection response across a range of situations to partner organisations, professionals and the public, working with local communities and in partnership with the VCF and other statutory agencies to contribute to managing COVID 19 outbreaks, incidents, and clusters in Sefton.
They will be expected to demonstrate a variety of skills in health protection acquired through experience of working in a health protection role or a related discipline, such as infection prevention and control or environmental health. They will manage multiple and changing demands and meet tight deadlines. A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation and motivation skills, and flexibility are required to understand other cultures, advise, challenge and advocate to enable effective working across organisational boundaries and influencing without direct authority.
