Director, Market Access & Reimbursement - Virology United Kingdom - London Gilead Sciences is continuing to hire for all open roles. With each new discovery and investigational drug candidate, we seek to improve the care of patients living with life-threatening diseases around the world. Gilead’s therapeutic areas of focus include HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, cancer and inflammation, and serious respiratory and cardiovascular conditions. We have a new opportunity for an experienced Market Access professional in Gilead’s UK & Ireland affiliate. This role will lead market access for all parts of the UK and Ireland for our two virology business units. The role reports to the market access leader for the whole UK&I affiliate and will partner closely with the Business Unit leaders for HIV and for Liver Disease. This is a new role and will line manage the two National Market Access leads for HCV and HIV and will have functional responsibility for delivering virology market access at Gilead, operating across the HCV and HIV business units, including our emerging treatment in COVID. This person will have gained significant line management and market access experience and is now looking to operate more strategically. With a strong focus on leadership and development, this new role is being created to support the effective delivery of our market access strategies through the National Market Access team and will bring additional strategic thinking and experience to ensure that patients do get access to the medicines that they need and that the NHS places appropriate priority and focus on these disease areas. Responsibilities & Accountabilities Responsible for the line management, coaching and development of two National Market Access (NMAx) Managers who each have the operational responsibility for market access within their respective business unit areas of HIV and HCV With this NMAx team, define and implement the market access strategy for each business unit Support the delivery of successful HTA outcomes for new medicines in the Virology area for all UK&I markets in collaboration with external and internal partners Build our positive, strategic relationship with NHS England in the Virology area, working closely with the Account Director, NHSE and the NMAx leads With market access colleagues, operate as a member of the UK&I Market Access leadership team and represent the NMAx perspective within this team Take a central role within each of the business unit leadership teams across the Virology space, representing market access at strategic and operational discussions at the brand team meetings Be a key player in the Market Access environment, engaging senior NHS Payers and NHS customers with an interest in Commissioning - with win-win solutions which result in outcomes benefiting the NHS, the patients and Gilead Represent the UK on international product leadership team meetings where appropriate Functional accountability for the delivery of the NHS England HCV elimination tender Working with the NMAx for each area, own the commercial pricing environment through tenders and commercial offerings With your teams, develop pricing proposals at the product launch stage and contribute towards new launch commercial strategy As part of the business planning process, bring a synergistic perspective to the operation of market access in both HCV and HIV Establishes working relationships with all relevant functions across Gilead business units, and develops account plans with Gilead teams to ensure commercial opportunities are realised Ensure all activities are compliant with Business Conduct policies for the commercial UK & Ireland affiliate but also external regulations and laws Work closely with the Director of Communications and the Director of Government Affairs to implement initiatives with the devolved countries and, where appropriate, through the market access field team Oversee the development and delivery of joint working projects between Gilead and the NHS which increase the treatment of patients in our chosen disease areas Oversee the development and delivery of an HEOR strategy designed to improve the focus of the NHS onot stronger patient outcomes in our chosen disease area. Experience, Skills and Knowledge Successful candidates will be degree educated (or international equivalent) with relevant Market Access and Health Technology Appraisal experience. Detailed knowledge of National and Local Commissioning and funding process for England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland for medicines ideally in the specialist areas, gained from a prior role in the Pharmaceutical industry. Ability to advise senior management and have excellent communications skills (oral and written) to be able to present recommendations at Board level. Demonstrable experience in developing, implementing and performance delivery of market access strategies in the UK & Ireland Strong project management capability Demonstrable expertise in the development and coaching of line reports; this role will play a critical part in the future development of market access talent for Gilead Background of strong networking and influencing skills with key personnel involved in policy and prescribing decision-making, and proven delivery of outcomes in commissioning environment. Understanding the impact and influence of NHS structures across Primary/Secondary/Tertiary care. Applying the understanding of NHS funding flows and challenges in order to get the best outcomes for prescription growth and prescribing guidance. Ability to work through uncertainty, ambiguity and with limited information to recommend actions to achieve the best outcome for Gilead medicines. Ability to disseminate the right information to the right customer with excellent communication skills. Proven delivery of robust outcomes e.g. Shared Care Protocols, Formulary approvals, Re-design of Treatment Pathways.
