A contract (3 months maybe more) opportunity for a Legal Assistant has arisen with the local authorities in Wembley.
It will be mainly electronic bundles with caselines,
Police disclosure requests, section 7 and 37 cases, making transcripts requests, translation requests, and general support for the lawyers.
To provide advice, to draft correspondence and documents and to undertake litigation if necessary.
Where relevant to the work area, attend court as an advocate or with Counsel in straightforward applications or similar.
Prepare bundles for court hearings in accordance with Practice Directions issued from time to time.
Take notes at hearings and conferences with Counsel.
Skills and Experience:
2:1 level Law Degree or equivalent.
knowledge of the law and practice relating to children in need, child protection and adoption.
experience of social care legislation in particular child protection legislation, court structure and procedures.
Ability to prepare cases for hearings and to process a caseload of social services - child care -related work.Hours of work are 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
