We also focus on additional specialty classes such as transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap and ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance.

The opportunity

Supporting the Underwriting Department in developing a more profitable books of business; develop the Syndicate Business Forecast (SBF) and Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR) and assist in providing pricing support to the U/W teams during key renewal periods.

Key responsibilities

• Performing analyses to optimise portfolios of insurance risks;
• Assess proposed business strategies using scenario testing and other analytical techniques;
• Identify and monitor key metrics to assess the success of the U/W team in meeting their identified strategic goals;
• Assist in the development of the SBF and SCR;
• Perform analyses that support the selection of parameters for the Capital Model;

Ad hoc support of other members of the Pricing Team

This work may include:

• Core pricing work such as Individual Account Pricing and Model Development
• Assistance with Management Information and Reporting
• Support for modernization initiatives
• Assistance with presentations, memos, and documentation
• Support for team meetings and meetings with Management
• Keep abreast of modern analytical techniques
• Identify ways to use them in the business
• Coordinate with the TALISMAN and INDEX teams as required
• Liaise with other analytical teams at Talbot and in the wider Group

About you

As Pricing Actuarial Analyst your skills and qualifications will include:-

• Data manipulation and technical modelling skills
• Strong skills in using spreadsheets and databases
• Knowledge of programming (eg: R, Python)
• Machine Learning
• Commercial or Personal Lines pricing experience
• Portfolio Optimisation techniques
• University degree
  • Preferably in a technical field (i.e., Science, Mathematics, Engineering)
  • Minimum 2:1
