Description

Job purpose - IT Solution Architect:

This role would suit an experienced Solutions Architect who wants to take the next step in their career towards an Enterprise Architect position. This role works with the IT Team and the business to identify, plan, design and deliver Transformation Architecture across the company.

This role will be responsible for high-level business, data, application and technical architecture designs within a Retail/Hospitality industry.

Responsibilities - IT Solution Architect:

Ensure that project/product technical options are considered and recommended approaches are clearly designed with valuable solutions. All project/product technical issues and risks should be managed appropriately and resolved
Be the central point of contact on architecture matters, liaising with all stakeholders such as; from business leads to technical infrastructure teams, data, integration, security, service introduction and solution designers, both locally and with Group teams.
Provide the structured technical framework within the IT solutions should be designed and subsequently delivered, driving forward the solution delivery and any impact assessments, evaluations, product selections and POC's as required
To be responsible for the ownership or/and construction of the technical architecture for an entire enterprise
To understand the direction of the business, its imperatives, its future challenges and how these may be supported by an appropriate overarching IT architecture and principles
Understand the current or "as is" state of the IT architecture and the path required to move this to the future "to be" state recognising that this target will constantly be moving away
Determining the approach to IT architecture including the appropriate architectural framework(s), methods(s), model(s), policies, standards and principles that will be adopted throughout the enterprise
Support the senior management of the company in understanding the risks, dependencies and issues that exist with respect to current and future state architectures and the impact that these may have on the business
To be responsible and accountable for ensuring that enterprise solutions align to a consistent set of architecture principles, policies and procedures. To ensure that governance arrangements across the enterprise are rigorously applied.

Profile

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience - IT Solution Architect:

Qualified to a degree level in a Development and Technology discipline (e.g. Computing Engineering, Computer Science, Software Development, Business Analysis, etc.) or demonstrate work experience at an equivalent level
Experience of developing and implementing enterprise solution architectural designs incorporating various types of technical infrastructure platforms, including Cloud, physical server, virtual server and SaaS in the delivery of transformational IT Projects.
A strong understanding and demonstrable experience of implementing network architecture within a secure environment through the use of Enterprise Modelling techniques such as UML, Technical Reference Model, etc.
Demonstrable experience in seeing the 'Big Picture' and supporting organisational objectives to move to a digitally excellent organisation
Familiar with contributing to and maintaining an Architecture repository with Architectural artefacts
Experience of the practical implementation of data security, access control and data protection principles and legislation
The ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) regarding architectural designs, and technological concepts to technical and non-technical staff. To present in a clear, succinct way, architectural concepts and designs to senior and technical stakeholders
Proven problem solving skills, with the ability to 'think outside the box' and deliver initially challenging functionality within compliance and security constraints
The ability to apply knowledge and experience to work independently and solve technical problems through well architected designs as well as adapting to and assimilating new technologies within your approach
