Finance - Governance, Risk and Assurance Manager We currently have a great opportunity for a Governance, Risk and Assurance Manager to join our Finance Division to work full time on a 24 month loan/secondment basis. Please note, this role is only open to those currently working within the Civil Service. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The agency is made up of c.1300 staff working across three centres: Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency regulatory centre (MHRA) Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) National Institute for Biological Standards and Controls (NIBSC) Shortlisted for the Civil Service Award and Financial Management Award; Finance and Procurement lead on the preparation of the agency's statutory accounts, management of risk and provision of financial controls; coordination of the internal audit plan and compliance with all HM Treasury, Department of Health, National Audit Office and Accounting Standards requirements and guidelines. The team provide management accounting, financial planning and business analysis services, and take the lead in achieving the best value for money from the agency's purchasing requirements. What is the role? This role will be responsible for reviewing and providing strategic insight into the Agency Corporate Risk and Governance fora and will work in partnership with the business to embed a culture of compliance and effective corporate risk management. You will be responsible for: Designing and supporting the implementation of robust assurance and corporate risk frameworks across the Agency, ensuring they are based upon best practice and meet the Agency's needs. Leading development of analysis and reporting of assurance and corporate risk, aligned to the needs of the Agency Governance Framework. Designing and leading development of Corporate Strategic Risk Register; initiating regular reviews of the Agency's risk profile and management of key risks at governance forums e.g. CET, ARAC, Board. Engaging with stakeholders and risk owners to embed an effective compliance culture, strengthen engagement with risk and issues management regimes. Facilitating external audits and inspections, and oversee recommendation management processes to ensure timely delivery of improvements. Who are we looking for? Our successful candidate will: Hold a degree or have finished AAT level 4, or be working towards a professional finance qualification such as CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, or CFA. Have extensive experience in a previous lead Risk and Assurance or Audit role. Demonstrate strong leadership and management behaviours, with the ability to drive continuous process efficiencies and improvements to deliver maximum value for the Agency. Be able to demonstrate their experience in data analysis to provide insightful findings and recommendations, enabling informed decision making.
