These are: Regulated Utilities market across water, energy and emerging telecoms strand; Environmental and Consenting Services, around broad range of major infrastructure projects in UK and Ireland; Water Catchment Flood and Coastal risk Management; Ports; and Ground Engineering and Tunnelling. From facilities delivering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology – we're integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow.  About the opportunity: Engineering Director leading Jacobs Europe’s Ground Engineering offering with Critical Mission Solutions (which includes nuclear). Jacobs has strong capability in these sectors, including all aspects of ground engineering such as advanced ground investigation, seismic geotechnics and numerical analysis.  The Engineering Director will work closely with clients to advise on ground engineering requirements on their projects and will co-ordinate our technical teams to deliver, including delivery of projects and technically led sales. This will include working closely with several disciplines and leads including engineering geology, site characterisation, foundation design and soil-structure interaction.  Responsibilities include:  • Senior role within the Jacobs Tunnelling & Ground Engineering team.  • Working closely with other seniors in the team including heads of discipline & technology e.g. engineering geology, soil-structure interaction and seismic geotechnics.  • Focussed on leading and delivering projects in key sectors such as nuclear, but working across Jacobs markets to deliver value to all our clients where there is a need.  • Role is project delivery focussed together with strong technical sales and capability development aspects.  • Reporting to Head of Tunnelling & Ground Engineering.   Qualifications   About you:Essential: • PhD/MSc level qualifications in Engineering Geology / Geotechnics or related discipline.  • A proven track record of winning work and successful project delivery.   • A proven track record of leading a team of advanced ground engineering specialists.  • Proven ability of working with and leading projects in the Nuclear Sector   • High, well respected industry profile with links to industry and academia.   • Demonstrable technical sales experience.  • Strong communication skills with fluency in verbal and written English.  • Strong planning & organising skills.  • Motivated to deliver high quality and to programme.  • Commitment to professional and personal development of self and others.   • Demonstratable record of publications (journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, government reports etc.).   • Chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers or other equivalent professional body.   • A sound knowledge of design codes and standards.  Desirable (to be attained through on the job training and development): • SC Security Clearance  Closing Date: 21/07/20.
