Operated by KeolisAmeyMetrolink: Keolis (60%) and Amey(40%) PTA: Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) Operation and maintenance of the Greater Manchester’s Metrolink light rail network Operation started on July 2017 and will end in 2027 (including extension period) over 100 km long network 99 tram stops 120 trams sets Around 50million passenger journeys per year 900 employees   KeolisAmey Metrolink a joint venture between Keolis and Amey, was awarded the franchise to operate and maintain Greater Manchester’s Metrolink for Transport for Greater Manchester until 2027. In April 2020 Metrolink expanded to Trafford Park (TPL) the extension added six new stops to the existing Metrolink network, taking the total number of stops to 99, across a tram network now more than 100km in length. The focus of the franchise is to boost services and implement a series of service improvements to make journeys better for passengers. This means cleaner trains and stations, more reliable lifts and escalators, more efficient and reliable station maintenance and faster passenger journeys. Maintaining the network’s 99 per cent reliability record and ensuring it remains one of the best performing railways in the UK is a key priority. What is the purpose of this role? To lead Metrolink’s Engineering and Asset Management strategy and to deliver the Keolis Amey Metrolink operations and maintenance contract obligations. (MOMA). To support KAM’s business plan in ensuring KAM assets are safe, reliable and available to deliver tram services. Lead a team of multi-disciplined Engineers; Lead the design and implementation of KAM’s Asset Management System; Coordinate procedures that enable Engineering assurance requirements across the Core Value Chain; Implement Engineering improvements and changes committed in MOMA. What will this role involve? Lead the Keolis Amey Engineering strategy, providing technical and maintenance services to operate the UK’s largest Light Rail network, comprising 120 trams, over 100 kilometres of track, 99 stops and two depots.  To Keep Manchester Moving, oversee daily asset performance, ensuring service requirements are delivered through tram availability and asset reliability, incident response and stakeholder management Provide safety & assurance oversight to ensure that assets remain safe to operate, applying appropriate rail safety risk management principles.  Working collaboratively with Transport for Greater Manchetser’s Metrolink team, provide detailed asset condition and performance information to inform and enable a pipeline of capital renewals and enhancements.  Be a key member and contributor to the Keolis Amey Metrolink Senior Management Team across all key business pillars, including Safety, Operational and Customer Excellence, Value for Money, People and Leadership and Social Responsibility.  Ensure planning excellence with long- and medium-term planning strategies in place for Annual Works Plan of Maintenance and Renewals; Scheduling and visualising of works. Lead targeted infrastructure improvements for operational and customer delivery on rolling stock, digital & operational control, network presentation, Infrastructure and Network Incident response. Advise and support development of a safety communications strategy for roll-out across the organisation which supports KAM’s drive towards a zero-harm working environment. Lead the design of the joint Engineering Metrolink plan and work collaboratively with other functions to facilitate the creation of an integrated 3-year KAM business plan. What are we looking for? Expert level of proficiency in the field of Asset Management, Engineering and Operations, that is underpinned through substantial and sustained practitioner experience in the field. Executive team experience with an ability to contribute to strategy and complex problem solving across all business functions including projects, customer experience, HR, safety and finance. Experience of managing, motivating and developing the capability of a team of multi-discipline engineering and maintenance managers. Experience of whole life cost modelling, which supports understanding of asset risk, criticality, condition and remaining life. People and Leadership skills which demonstrate strong, two-way, trusting, working relationships with peers and team members, focused on achieving business goals and team members motivated and challenged to work towards their full potential. Strong financial management skill with deep understanding of operational cost management, budgeting and third party contract management Skilled in managing complex client relationships and leveraging those relationships e.g. TfGM where appropriate to support KAM commercial outcomes. Skilled as a communicator and influencer to ensure that Engineering functional interests and issues are committed to and aligned with business plan activities. Demonstrated experience in leading transformation and change program, with an ability to oversee multiple complex improvement projects
