We are looking for Assistant Headteachers at primary and secondary, who are passionate about teaching and learning within a special school.

Salary: L6-10

Full time, part time working considered

The right persons for our schools will be driven to achieve excellence and personal qualities to work in a collaborative way. They will bring their creativity and enthusiasm to the role and will have a positive approach to promote learning and maximise the potential of all pupils.

A key role is to monitor the quality of teaching and learning and to review the progress of disadvantaged pupils and 6 th form students (secondary school post)

About us

Booker Park (Primary) and Stocklake Park (Secondary) schools cater for children with a broad diversity of complex needs including Profound and Multiple, Severe and Moderate Learning Difficulties. Almost half of the pupils have an additional diagnosis of an autistic spectrum condition.

About the role

The successful applicant will be part of the senior leadership team. Ensure high quality learning and teaching. Monitor the quality of learning. Ensure all pupils have access to education and any barriers to learning are broken down. Support, lead and motivate staff in order to ensure that the provision is effective and adjustments are made as necessary to help them meet personal and professional targets. Provide training and conduct appraisals.

Lead and manage effective and strong support for disadvantaged pupils/students, in conjunction with SLT. Lead on agreed whole school and/or federation responsibilities. Develop and maintain positive links with parents and other stakeholders.

Contribute to the self evaluation process and SDP and report on progress to Principal and/or Head of School.

About you

In order to carry out this role the ideal candidate will have qualified teacher status and enjoy working with pupils who have special educational needs, are able to motivate pupils by engaging with them to maximise the potential of all learners. You will be passionate about teaching and learning and able to enthuse and reflect upon experience. You will have an appreciation of the positive attitudes required to encourage independence in our pupils, together with high expectations and respect towards pupils, is key along with having good organisational skills to manage a diverse workload, working co-operatively and collaboratively. A proven track record in Middle leadership over a number of years is essential. Evidence of major whole school responsibilities and experience of converting policy into effective and successful practice. Outstanding classroom practice in a special school. Evidence of personal and professional development in preparation for management.
