inScience Communications are looking for a Senior Medical Information Specialist  supporting the inScience Communications team. This is an exciting role for an experienced individual who wishes to develop their career in Medical Information (MI).

The successful candidate will lead internal project teams work and with our pharma clients to support Therapy Area Managers with incoming MI enquiries. Conducting literature searches and writing detailed global response documents are a key part of this role.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Complete product and therapy area training; become familiar with the Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPCs) for the product(s) assigned to; keep up-to-date on therapy area and product knowledge.
  • Follow client instructions and processes for managing medical information (MI) inquiries, and developing Global Response Documents (GRD) within the required timelines.
  • Become familiar with the system used for managing MI inquiries, and all aspects of GRD development and approval.
  • Monitor inquiry inbox/system for inquiries escalated to the Global team and monitor email inbox for inquiries to be handled as briefed by the client; lead on inquiry responses when Therapy Area Manager is out of office.
  • Undertake appropriate literature searches (within PubMed; EMBASE; Google Scholar); this will entail:
    • defining the scope of the literature search;
    • identifying appropriate keywords to narrow the search accordingly to address the inquiry topic;
    • critically evaluating literature search results;
    • identifying key references of relevance to the inquiry; where applicable, critically evaluating additional references cited within these key references;
    • critically assessing content of each reference to identify the key information and data of relevance to the inquiry.
  • Draft de novo GRDs, and update expired documents in line with the latest version of the Style Guide and GRD template.
  • Review up to 20% of GRDs drafted by junior/new members of the team.
  • Manage 1-2 members of the team junior to you/new to the team, as required.
  • Manage the workload of other members of the team, where applicable.
  • Other duties, as may be reasonably required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in life science, pharmacy or proven equivalent experience.
  • Excellent writing experience in a pharmaceutical/healthcare/MedComms setting

  • Ability to interpret and analyze clinical/scientific data.
  • Flexible and proactive approach, combined with and ability to work as part of a team. Proven organization/time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • A strong commitment to providing high-level client service and client satisfaction.
  • Highly computer literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
