Job Category: IT Job Location: Crawley, West Sussex, United Kingdom IT Support Technician Essential Qualifications / Skills: Degree qualified in IT related subject 3+ years' experience in a similar role Experience with Microsoft ecosystem, including Windows Server and Office 365 / Azure Prepared to work at either location (Crawley or South Nutfield) Ability to work under pressure & get things done efficiently whilst not compromising confidentiality / IT security Multi-task with simultaneous projects meeting tight deadlines continuing to close out Meticulous, accurate with a keen eye for detail Full manual driving licence Must speak clear fluent technical English Beneficial Qualifications / Skills: Microsoft professional accreditation (e.g. MCSE) Experience with the following software programmes from an IT perspective (e.g. software updates): Microsoft Navision, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Vault, Inventor Suite. This is an expansive role with involvement in all aspects of the company's IT and communication systems, including server, network, telephones and user support. This role supports all company sites. Activities will involve, but not be limited to, the following: Provide support to users, including: * Responding to support tickets, finding solutions to reported problems and implementation of corrective action. * Provision of advice and basic training for use of MS Windows and MS Office and other components of Office 365. * Desk moves and equipment setup. Routine management and maintenance on all IT and communication systems: * Patch management and software upgrades. * Creation and deletion of user and device accounts. * Set up of mobile and desk telephones. * Maintenance of printers. * Replacement of failed components * Set up and patching of network switches and wifi access points. * Monitoring SQL Server maintenance plans. Protect the integrity of data and systems: * Ensure correct use of antivirus/antimalware and intrusion detection. * Manage user access rights and locations to protect sensitive information. * Manage and monitor remote access to systems. * Liaise with engineering on maintenance of bespoke systems. * Oversee backup schedule and restore of any data as required. Ensure continuous development and renewal of infrastructure: * Assist with the development of a long-term plan for replacement of servers, telephone system and all other computing equipment. * Ensure IT systems in place to meet the needs of the business and that the business is aware of the full capability of systems. * Test new technology and evaluate value to the business. Documentation and automation of tasks: * Liaise with accounts on the purchase and disposal of computer related assets. * Create standardised machine builds appropriate to user roles. * Automation of software roll out. * Provision of sufficient licenses. * Document procedures and create knowledge base of solutions to problems. Hours of work & remuneration Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (experience dependent) Minimum hours of work: 08:00 - 17:15 Monday - Friday. Occasional weekend / out of hours work may be required. Pension upon joining the company Life assurance, after qualifying probationary period (6 months) Out of pocket expenses reimbursed Private healthcare and increased pension contributions after further qualifying period (2-3 years) 33 days holiday, including UK Bank holidays.
