Coventry Service Manager with management responsibilities for York (Ref: CV198)
37.5 hours per week
Out of hours service – Inclusive of weekends
Based: Coventry with occasional travel to York.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are dedicated to the principles of social inclusion, to work with adults with mental health needs. Working across The Safe Haven in Coventry the post holder will work supporting the team to deliver services to people in distress and in need of immediate support. The role will be split between day time and evenings in Coventry. You will ensure we offer a welcoming, safe, supportive, comfortable and non-clinical environment that promotes independence opportunities for recovery.

You will offer smooth links to the crisis and home treatment teams, hospital liaison team, street triage and the Access and Wellbeing service. You will refer to the local community mental health services for urgent follow ups the next working day for more severe crises.

You will have a trauma aware approach – an understanding of not only a service user’s history of trauma, but also of the risk that use of The Safe Haven in Coventry may cause trauma, for example, people feeling rejected or invalidated. You will have access and good connections with other mental health providers, both NHS, local authority, voluntary sector, police & ambulance. You will help relieve emotional distress by providing empathy, supportive reassurance, catharsis and time.

Leading a Team, you will work closely with mental health workers, partners and other agencies. You will have experience of workingwithin a Mental Health Setting and knowledge of Primary and Secondary Care Pathways is key. You will demonstrate an ability to prioritise caseload and have an understanding of the principles of the care and mental health act.

You will be educated to a Degree Level in a health related subject, with management skills have awareness and experience of working with people who have experienced mental health issues, particularly those that may be in distress and will have the demonstrated skills and ability to help others identify and overcome barriers. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a proactive and highly motivated attitude.
