Job Category: Public Sector Job Location: Greenhill, Greater London, United Kingdom Community Safety Engagement Officer (COVID COmmunity Safety) The role: * To provide strategic policy advice and support on community safety related cohesion matters, including hate crime, which will have major implications on the public and partners, to the Chief Executive, Corporate Strategic Board, the Leader, Portfolio Holders and Divisional Director. * To build collective, cross-council and partner support for the development of the community safety and cohesion direction of the authority, engaging with councillors, senior managers, partners, the community and external bodies. * To work with the Children's Violence, Vulnerability and Exploitation (VVE) Team to support the needs of young people with regards risks around exploitation, especially related to gangs and community safety. * The post holder will lead policy development, engagements/consultations and service improvement projects, as directed by the Senior Lead for Community Cohesion to support the development of the corporate direction of the authority. * The post holder will be the area expert for this work and regularly, independently engage with councillors on a range of complex matters and negotiate the agenda in this field to achieve positive outcomes for residents. * The post holder will engage with senior managers, local partners, community leaders, Government Departments and national and regional policy forums. Role requirements * Understanding of the purpose of the community safety and the community cohesion function * Expert knowledge of the community safety and community cohesion policy and performance environment * Expert knowledge of research methodologies * Understanding of the community and working in a diverse community setting * Managing effective working relationships in a political environment * Working with councillors independently on a regular basis, dealing with a range of complex matters. * Working with senior managers * Managing and conducting research projects * Managing and conducting engagements and consultations * Excellent communication with a wide range of people using a variety of media * Excellent negotiation and influencing skills to raise outcomes for residents and the public. * Excellent report writing skills * Excellent analytical skills Please apply with an updated CV
