As the Cemeteries Superintendent, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive range of functions that enable the development, management and delivery of the Council’s Cemeteries service. This includes the monitoring of the Council’s Cemeteries and Closed Churchyards, identifying and implementing projects to develop these sites; and to provide professional advice, guidance, interpretation and evaluation on all aspects of the work area to colleagues and service users.
In this position, you will have line management responsibility, where you will act as the manager for the Cemeteries and Green Spaces Officer. You’ll also be expected to participate in business continuity arrangements in the event of emergencies and local critical incidents, including participating in out-of-hours call out cover, in accordance with the Council’s emergency plan.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to; analyse and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data, understand and monitor compliance with complex contractual documentation, use discretion when dealing with cases of a distressing nature which may fall outside formal parameters and be empathetic with service users who have suffered bereavement.
In order to be considered for this post, you’ll need to hold; a GCSE, or equivalent, in Maths and English. A Certificate in Cemetery Management OR be willing to obtain this is an essential requirement of the role. In addition, you’ll be an Associate member of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management and hold a full UK driving licence. Full Membership of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management is desirable.
