We have an exciting opportunity for a contract Solicitor to join our General Counsel and Commercial function at our Head Office. This could be a full or part time role and we would welcome job share applications for this position, working hours to be discussed.
Integrated with United Utilities' Commercial and Regulatory Procurement function, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to United Utilities Water Limited to ensure that our business operates within the legal and regulatory framework and that our business' commercial interests are protected. Whilst it is anticipated that you will work primarily with the Commercial and Regulatory Procurement function, and may take on legal work for other parts of the UU Group as and when required. Job Accountabilities
This is a highly specialised area where you will use your knowledge and experience to deal with commercial and contractual matters that arise. This will include providing legal input on a range of commercial contracts matters, for example, IT, IP, Construction & general commercial as well as other legal matters.
You will provide legal advice to senior managers in the business as well as acting as the resource to support the wider Regulatory Procurement function. You will assist the Commercial & Construction Legal team and the broader Commercial function to raise commercial awareness across our business to ensure that appropriate advice is taken at an early stage and ensure that accurate and timely legal advice is provided for contentious and non-contentious Commercial and related legal matters.
Knowledge and SkillsTo succeed in this role you will be a qualified Solicitor (enrolled in England & Wales) or have equivalent experience or expertise (e.g. overseas qualification) with relevant experience in a commercial environment– a recognised specialist. You will also need to have:
