The Business Integrations team will leverage its expertise in care delivery operations and will partner with Optum business units to enable innovative solutions at a local market level. Our impact will be seen through: Assisting in the development of 3-year strategic plans for each priority geo-market Providing consulting services to local markets, with emphasis on facilitating pilots and novel care delivery models of the initiatives Supporting additional ad-hoc projects based on evolving market needs (ex. COVID response) The Director, Business Integrations will report to the Vice President of Business Integrations, OptumHealth. The incumbent will have frequent interactions with the OptumHealth and Care Delivery Organization (CDO) Senior Leadership Team members. The incumbent will lead a team of Associate Directors, Project/Program Managers and Business Analysts responsible for operationalizing initiatives/objectives identified within 3-year strategic plans. The incumbent will help establish overall tactical direction, identify and define the methods to implement initiatives for Optum Enterprise Strategy (OES) Local Care Ecosystem (LCE) priority markets. The incumbent will also support OptumHealth and CDO senior leaders on other initiatives, not directly related to Plan implementation, when needed. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Work closely with local geo-market senior leaders (Presidents, Vice Presidents, Chief Operating Officers, etc.) along with Optum business unit leaders (OptumRx, OptumInsight, Optum Behavioral Health and Care Services) to operationalize new and/or revised strategic initiatives Work closely with operational leaders and subject matter experts, facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the following types of initiatives: increase and accelerate risk transfer for all payors, expand oncology programs, enhance virtual care solutions and digital experience, develop integrated behavioral health care solutions, and integrate clinical pharmacists into the clinic setting Identify, assess, track and support the implementation of multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously Identify and support performance improvement initiatives in local markets, when/as needed Inform development of broad-based growth strategies (in-market strategies, geographic expansion and business line expansion) Institutionalize and continuously evolve methods and processes to optimize implementation techniques used across geo-markets Understand, assess, prioritize and validate business demands and requirements through direct, continual interaction with business unit leaders, stakeholders and subject matter experts Present comfortably and compellingly to senior leader audiences Convey findings in a cohesive story, including summarizing insights from analysis and builds appropriate horizontal and vertical logic in presentation decks Develop and execute change management strategies and tactical plans to help individuals adopt change and modify behavior with intent of change initiatives Essential Functions/Capabilities: Leads inter-company/cross-business unit teams on large scale, complex initiatives, typically involving the implementation of new products and services Ability to engage directly with senior level executives (e.g., CEO, President, Chief Medical Officer, etc.) Advanced abilities in supervising, managing and mentoring 3-5 direct reports Outstanding conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills Change management and business transformation acumen Strong influencing skills; track record of successful client relationship development and ability to quickly build credibility and gain the confidence of individuals at all levels. Strong sense of accountability; passion for owning projects/initiatives and driving them to completion Team player with the ability to sell change effectively and influence others Strong verbal and written communications, including presentation skills Demonstrated ability to recognize, prioritize, and evaluate market trends and specific growth opportunities Ambitious and pro-active with strong team leadership skills Keen understanding and passion for healthcare Ability to travel at least 50% in a given week (travel will likely average 30%; some projects require more/less) Based in Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + minimum of 8 years strategic planning and implementation experience (e.g. consulting, strategy, healthcare operations, health plans, business analysis, data analytics, data science, investment banking) OR Master’s degree + minimum of 5 years strategic planning and implementation experience (e.g. consulting, strategy, healthcare operations, health plans, business analysis, data analytics, data science, investment banking) 2-3 years of management/supervisory experience (employee selection, training, coaching and development) Experience supporting large-scale implementation or business transformation teams with tangible impact on operating/financial performance Healthcare background strongly preferred Careers with Optum.
