Software Developer (Back End) Starting salary up to £30,000 depending on experience. Role is fully remote in the UK at the moment, with a significant or total work from home split as and when the office reopens. We’re looking for an exceptional back end software developer to join our team and take real ownership of key technical elements of our product roadmap. Role & Responsibilities: Increase the scalability of our technical operations through the design and development of systems which standardise and automate common tasks relating to logging, quality control, ETL and more. Own the back end of our analytics dashboard and other web app products, with responsibility for databases, APIs and microservices. Starting with improving systems as-is and longer term owning your own roadmap to drive the design and implementation of apps back end. Contribute to the design of products and solutions. Play an active and leading role in security across our platform. Apply good coding practices in your work and act as a good example to junior colleagues. Challenge existing ways of working and contribute to the continuous improvement of the team and the business. Keep clear and up to date documentation of your work, systems and processes. Communicate effectively with your colleagues in the development team and the wider business. Requirements: Technical expertise in the back end layer of web applications, preferably data-centric or analytical applications like dashboards. Exceptional ability in SQL and at least one programming language (Python or PHP highly desirable.) Considerable experience with AWS e.g. RDS, EC2 and Elastic Beanstalk. Experience developing applications, APIs and Microservices. Knowledge of source control, preferably Git. Experience of web app security. Experience of integrating with leading eCommerce applications like Shopify or Magento is highly desirable.
