Senior Network Engineer


TransferWise is one the fastest growing companies in Europe and we’re on a mission: to make money without borders the new normal. We’ve got 8 million customers across the globe and we’re growing. Fast. Current banking systems don’t let us send, spend or receive money across borders easily. Or quickly. Or cheaply. So, we’re building a new one. And, we’re looking for a hybrid physical and cloud network engineer, who can work on Juniper and classic network architecture, but also has had exposure to AWS networking (VPC’s, Direct Connect etc.). You’ll be helping connect payment systems and partners directly into the TransferWise platform. For our customers, using TransferWise should feel as simple as sending a text message. Yet behind our app and website lies a complex, one-of-a-kind engine of currencies and routes that’s being designed, built and powered by our talented teams in cities around the world. With new capabilities being built every day, there’s still a lot to figure out, and we can’t do it alone. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact onTransferWise’s mission, grow as a product leader and help save millions more people money. Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Engineering Team You’ll be helping connect payment systems and partners directly into the TransferWise platform. You’ll be part of a small team of engineers who design and build out the platform according to both strategic goals and operational needs. You’ll be responsible for growing the platform in Amazon Web Services, and expanding our reach both globally and in scale. We operate on a strong belief in full automation, programmatic implementation, and repeatable design patterns. We’re looking for people who can step outside the system and come up with robust architectures, but also follow through and help implement the design; drawing on the resources across the rest of the platform tribe. Someone with classic physical networking experience, matched with recent cloud networking, would be ideally placed to fill this role. Our AWS estate is becoming ever more complex, and we need to absorb the scale of our growing user base, whilst constantly improving our uptime and availability. We also need to ensure the connectivity between our growing estate grows with us, and maintains a stable service. The network engineer will be a key driver in this regard. Is that you? You know JunOS and IOS (that right breed of IOS) You know AWS networking principles (VPC/TGW/ENI etc.) You are comfortable working on problems in all network layers You can VPN whatever wherever You can drive architectural decisions You understand the problems faced in regulated or strictly audited environments Ideally you are experienced with; Making design decisions and implement hybrid multi-tiered environments with myriad partner integrations. Working with product teams to launch new integrations Working to make network infrastructure as code the norm Staying security paranoid Looks for where you can add impact and upset the norm Able to solve problems with vendors Ability to identify improvements on the wider scale Can work in a flat hierarchy, with servant leaders Working with regulated systems Ability to review complex requirements and identify simple solutions Interested?
