Head of Commercial Delivery - North West Our Commercial Delivery Major Project teams are growing, we’re now hiring a Head of Commercial Delivery accountable for the strategic leadership of post contract commercial services across some of the most ambitious, complex and significant infrastructure projects in the country over the next five years and beyond! We’re flexible on how and where you do this role from – we welcome interest on a full time or part hours considered basis, working from a variety of Highways England offices. We’re looking for a flexible attitude to travel as you may be required to attend meetings at other Highways England and supplier sites as required. As a Head of Commercial Delivery you will develop and execute the commercial strategy across a multi-million pound Major Project programme, achieving key commercial deliverables and value for money outcomes. You will achieve this through effective leadership of a significant team of commercial professionals, delivering a range of high quality commercial services to the programme throughout its lifecycle, including contract administration, budget management and supplier performance management. You will champion collaboration across teams and act with integrity to deliver the very best outcomes and investment decisions. The role would suit a proven commercial leader who is naturally able to forge strong, collaborative relationships. This is a unique opportunity to drive commercial strategy at a senior level in a focused and dynamic delivery organisation that is set to change the productive face of highways construction, and positively influence the infrastructure market over the next 30 years! What you’ll be leading on • Using experience and professional knowledge to influence a regional or schemes strategy. • Translating objectives from the business plan to meet the region’s or scheme’s goals and objectives. • Influence the regions into commercial policy compliance demonstrating integrity within the defined areas of responsibility. • Using experience and professional knowledge to advise on identified needs, priorities and potential threats to regional or scheme success, defining and communicating commercial mitigation to achieve continually improving delivery. • Using experience and professional knowledge, act to encourage continual improvement of supply chain performance using effective measurement in wellbeing, health, safety, customer, delivery and behavioural indicators. • By application of technical experience and professional knowledge, contribute to programme agenda, managing commercial expectations, optimising scheme commercial success in delivering objectives. • Working alongside the Major Projects Project Director / Managers, deploy experience and professional knowledge when acting as an integral senior member of the project team. To be successful • Significant experience of leading and managing high performing commercial teams including matrix management at a senior level• Significant expertise of NEC forms of contract, including significant experience of tendering and procurement using NEC forms of contract• Demonstrable experience of managing the integrity of commercial delivery relationships in the use of public money• Proven ability to contribute to and communicate programme and organisational aims to align effort with a programmatic vision• Capacity to absorb complex and diverse information and use strong practical influencing skills, both internally and externally to optimise Highways England’s commercial programme interests• Relevant professional qualification: RICS, ICE or equivalent.
