As the NEW Women and Children’s Hospital has been confirmed at Milton Keynes University Hospital, there has never been a more exciting time to join #teammkuh, as our Head of Midwifery, Paediatric & Gynaecology Nursing. The Head of Midwifery, Paediatric & Gynaecology Nursing will be part of the senior team, accountable to the Divisional Director and reporting professionally to the Chief Nurse. This is a key leadership position taking forward regional and national professional agendas for maternity, child health, working closely with matrons and senior medical, nursing and management staff. The post holder will take an active role in the Bedfordshire, Luton & Milton Keynes (BLMK) Local Maternity System (LMS) in delivery of the LMS plan as part of maternity transformation. Here at MKUH, our Maternity unit supports over 3,500 births annually, our continuity of carer pathways are rapidly expanding and we are proud of our Perinatal Mental Health Team offering care in a multidisciplinary fashion, alongside Day Assessment, Early Pregnancy and Specialist Gynaecology service. MKUH is passionate about improving outcomes and women & family experience. We are an inclusive team that strives to work collaboratively with all colleagues and the Maternity Voices Partnership. Our Paediatric services include Acute and Community services and a Level 2 NNU, that takes babies from 27 weeks gestation. We have excellent multi-agency working relationships and close links with OUH and Southampton Hospital as our Tertiary partners. As a University Hospital, MKUH supports student nurses and midwives from Northampton and Bedfordshire Universities. Our organisation encourages Continuing Professional Development and would be supportive of Masters or PhD study. The Head of Midwifery, Paediatric and Gynaecology Nursing position requires an individual who is capable of leading, inspiring and developing the midwifery and paediatric workforce to continuously develop the standards of professional practice and care.
